This year our featured tour is offered for July 1 to 11, 2025 and December 1 to 11, 2025. 

The 10 nights tour will take you across the western region to the most central part of Bhutan.  July and December both fall in the off season and usually offer the benefit of lower hotel rates and numbers of tourists. In summer in July It is beautiful with lush green views of valleys and mountains, while in winter in December the clear blue skies are something to behold.

Travelling Details

You can explore Bhutan as a solo traveler or in small groups never more than 10 or 11.

Itinerary

This itinerary combines cultural tours with short hikes but we also cater to special interests such as bird watching, textiles, Buddhist pilgrimages and meditation, culinary Bhutanese cuisine and trekking.  

Day 1

        

Paro to Thimphu (1.5 hrs)

Fly into Paro International Airport. If the weather is clear, you can see the majestic eastern Himalayan peaks. One can also view Mt. Kanchenjunga, the third highest peak in the world, as well as Bhutan’s highest peak Mt. Jomolhari.

Airport pick up and drive to Thimphu, the Capital City.  On the way, stop and visit Tamchog Monastery which is a short hike from the main road.

Visit Simply Bhutan to experience traditional Bhutanese activities like archery, dance and cuisine.

The Royal Textile Academy promotes and preserves the art of weaving in Bhutan.

The Folk Heritage Museum and the Post Office where you can make custom stamps.

Memorial Chorten - stupa built in memory of the Third King.

Day 2

  

Thimphu to Gangtey (4 hrs)

Then onward to Phobjikha valley. The U-shaped valley is beautiful and it is the winter home to the Black-necked cranes that arrive from Tibet in the last week of October and return in March.  The broad valley, with its best-known marshland in Bhutan, is popular for its scenic splendor. The valley is rich in faunal biodiversity .

Day 3

    

Gangtey

A visit to the Crane Center gives visitors a background to the conservation policy and its history, followed by a hike across the Nature Trail will be a treat.

If interested we can arrange to sit in at the evening prayer session performed by the monks of Gangtey monastery.

Day 4

    

Gangtey to Bumthang (5 hrs)

After breakfast, drive to Bumthang.  Stop at Trongsa, for lunch at the Weeling Waterfall cafe.

In the evening visit Tang Mebar tso literally translates as the “burning lake.” It's a significant place, where Pema Lingpa, Bhutan’s greatest Terton (treasure revealer) discovered his first treasure from the lake-a statue of Guru Rinpoche and a sacred text of Buddha’s teachings.

Day 5

     

Bumthang

After breakfast, drive to Chorkor to visit other historical and religious sites - Jambay lhakhang, Kurje, Tamshing and Koenchosum monastery.

A short meditation session and butter lamp offerings can be arranged if interested.

Day 6

      

Bumthang to Punakha (6 hrs)

Visit the Punakha dzong - built in 1637, it is the second oldest fortress.  The Dzong stands majestically on the confluence of two rivers (the male and female river). It is the winter home for the central monastic body.  It was also the venue of the Royal Wedding of the present King Jigme Khesar Wangchuck and Queen Jetsum Pema Wangchuck.

Day 7

    

Punakha

Khamsum Yulley stupa - the hike takes you across paddy fields and other beautiful sites.  Tea /coffee and snacks will be arranged. Visit Kajathrom - the local market.

Day 8

     

Punakha to Thimphu (3.5 hrs)

After breakfast, drive back to Thimphu. Visit the tallest buddha statue in Bhutan.  The statue was built to bring peace and happiness to all sentient beings across the universe. 

Next visit the National Institute of Zorig Chusum.  The institute offers courses on the 13 traditional arts and crafts. Institutions such as this play an important role in preserving and promoting the culture and traditions. The school provides an opportunity to observe the students fully engage in their different crafts. 

Visit the Takin Reserve, the country's national animal with a very interesting mythical background.

Day 9

     

Thimphu to Paro (1.5 hrs)

Morning drive to Dochula to see the Drug Wangyal Tsechu or festival.  Drive back to Paro. 

Visit the 7th century Kyichu Lhakhang. The National Museum - has an interesting collection of traditional wear from different parts of the region, antique religious artifacts, textiles and weapons from  the past.

Explore Paro town and rest in the evening to prepare for the long hike tomorrow!

Day 10

     

Paro Taktsang

After breakfast, hike to the famous Taktsang which means Tiger's nest monastery. It is built on a sheer cliff at a height of 2950m.  Considered one of the most sacred sites by Bhutanese and Varajana Buddhist around the world.

Legend has it that Guru Rinpoche, founder of Buddhism in Bhutan, flew on a tigress to this site, subdued evil in the region, meditated in the cave and spread the Buddha's teachings.

Day 11

Departure from Paro International Airport.

  1.  To confirm and book a travel package 50% of the cost should be deposited. The fund will be utilized to book and confirm hotel rooms.

  2. 100% payment to be made 60 days before arrival of date in Bhutan.
